Whatever happened to my Backstabbr game?

Well, everything was going pretty well. I was getting a little paranoid. There was a point where I was convinced Italy was going to switch to working with Russia… or Turkey. But that’s Diplomacy for you.

In the last turn I played I messed up and order. I’d ordered my fleet in Greece to Bulgaria and it would have succeeded. However, I’d misordered. Because the order went through without being questioned, I didn’t realise that the system had recorded it as Gre-Bul(ec). I still don’t know why that happened, honestly… I will need to get into the site’s sandbox to work it out.

No matter. Italy got into the Aegean, was still – apparently – onside, and Turkey was going to struggle. I’d support Italy into Bulgaria if he wanted it. Turkey wouldn’t be able to prevent it. Now, with Turkey in a position of going backwards, there would be a better chance of getting Russia on board.

Before I would do anything else in the game, I took my dog out for a walk. Part way through, and fortunately close to the end of the walk, my foot slipped off a kerb (I’m not sure if everyone will understand a what a kerb is so I’ll include a pic below) and my ankle buckled, leaving me to half-hop, half-limp home (with my very patient dog).

I’d broken my ankle. Hence the featured image. Perhaps what made it worse was that it was an ankle I’d broken before, albeit some time ago. So I ended up in hospital, having a couple of operations, and I’m currently a cyborg (well, sorta).

I spent six days in hospital. My brother was able to look after my dog for me but, after he’d babysat a game for me on another site, out-flat refused to babysit this game.

And that was it. My game was over.

Honestly, I don’t know what happens when you NMR a turn on Backstabbr. I missed at least two turns, however, because I couldn’t access the site. I suspect I was removed from the game. If anyone can correct me, let me know.

A sad end. I thought things were going well in the game, despite feeling that I wasn’t as solid in my alliance as I like to be. But these things happen. I’ll be back on Backstabbr for another game in the future, although with my dad’s health currently, I’m not going to be rushing back into a game soon.
