It seems to be that, just as I’m getting into the meat of a game, my health fails. The last time it happened I was playing on Backstabbr; this time it was on my favourite site, Playdiplomacy.
I’d had a couple of days of uncomfortable pain in my chest. I’d done a Covid test each day and they were coming back negative. Still, I went to get a ‘proper’ test and that also proved to be negative. So, not Covid… probably.
Then the pain stopped being uncomfortable and more acute. So I got a doctor’s appointment, and was sent for an x-ray. And ended up staying in the hospital due to a collapsed lung. The comment from a doctor was that she didn’t know how I’d kept going.
It was reinflated. If you’ve never had this, then this is definitely uncomfortable and the strangest feelings I’ve had. Still, my lung was back and apparently working. They did a couple of tests in the hospital but, before I got the results, my lung collapsed again.
The test results were that I had pneumonia. My lung was reinflated, then collapsed for a third time. Reinflated again… and this time it stayed up.
All in all, I spent nine days in hospital, successfully avoiding Covid while I was in there. I know, you’d kind of expect to stay healthy in hospital but, with Covid, you never know.
The sad thing for me was that this all happened in the middle of a Dip game, again. Disappointing for everyone in the game because I’d been taken into hospital with no way of accessing the site, especially without my phone charger. Horrific for me because I was dropping from another game and I hate that. Excusable, yeh, but still…
Anyway, the pneumonia’s gone, my lung seems to think it’s done enough of trying to kill me, and I’ve taken a break from all things Diplomacy for a while. Now it’s time to get things back on track.
